Achieve Sleek Legs with Inner and Outer Thigh Liposuction

Inner & Outer Thigh Liposuction in Fremont, San Jose, Oakland, and San Francisco.

Proper diet and exercise are crucial for your overall health and fitness, but there’s only so much they can do when you’re tackling stubborn fat deposits. If you’re feeling self-conscious or need some help getting the perfect figure, thigh liposuction could be the answer.

It helps remove excess fat on your inner and outer thighs that does not seem to want to go away, no matter what you do. However, it can often include treating other common areas like your waist, hips, and knees, helping you contour your body shape and get a well-proportioned, slim silhouette you can be proud of.

While liposuction is a popular cosmetic surgery, that doesn’t mean you should take it lightly. Look at what the procedure involves and how it helps you keep your figure in check, then determine whether it’s the right option for you.

What is Thigh Liposuction?

Thigh lipo is a cosmetic procedure that is done under local tumescent anesthesia with some sedation. The surgeon physically removes the fat cells to contour your legs and make them look tighter and smoother.

It is customized to suit your unique needs and preferences, but the most common areas typically include the inner and outer thighs.

Removing excess fat from the inner thigh helps you get a more defined thigh gap that’s both appealing and convenient, especially if you’re doing sports or exercising frequently. Working on the saddlebags on the upper thigh, on the other hand, helps you improve your leg and body shape, making everything seem better proportioned.

Keeping all this in mind, you should know that leg liposuction isn’t a weight loss treatment. It’s designed solely for removing fat that you can’t get rid of through diet and exercise. It’s more suitable for sculpting or contouring your body shape – it won’t have much of an effect on the numbers on the scale.

The Benefits of Thigh Lipo

Thigh liposuction is a type of cosmetic surgery, and as such, it’s mainly designed to help you improve your overall figure. However, it does have some surprising benefits:

=

May Reduce or Eliminate Chafing

If your inner thighs frequently rub against each other, you’ll encounter issues with chafing, which can go from causing minor discomfort to creating issues with skin irritation and even bleeding. By increasing the thigh gap, thigh lipo may help you avoid or lessen these issues.

=

Eliminates Fat Accumulation

Fat accumulation in the outer thighs (commonly referred to as saddlebags) can be difficult to improve with diet and exercise and can leave you looking disproportionate. Leg liposuction eliminates this excess fat and restores your confidence.

=

Restores Your Appearance

Pregnancy and hormonal changes can significantly impact how you look. If you’re not satisfied with the permanent changes to your body post-partum and after getting your hormones under control, leg lipo can help.

=

Improves Leg Contour

The fat deposits that do not improve with diet and exercise are relatively easy to remove.

=

Improves Your Skin

After surgery, you’ll enjoy smoother, softer skin by getting rid of stubborn fat that won’t go away even with a rigorous exercise plan.

=

Increases Comfort

By eliminating fat deposits around your thighs, hips, and knees, you’ll eliminate or improve problems with chafed thighs and enjoy greater comfort and mobility.

What You Can Expect During the Procedure

Thigh liposuction might seem frightening. However, while it is mildly “invasive,” it doesn’t take too long to complete, and the process is pretty straightforward:

01.

Marking Common Areas

First, your cosmetic surgeon will make markings on your outer and inner thighs, hips, and knees. These markings allow the surgeon to adjust the procedure to your unique shape and anatomy, ensuring that the final results are perfectly tailored for you.

02.

The Surgery

Local tumescent solution will be gently infused under the skin to provide firmness and anesthesia. The cosmetic surgeon will make a few small openings in your skin and start removing the fat cells with specialized equipment. At GLOW Surgical Arts, we use power assisted liposuction (PAL) to carefully remove fat through a small metal tube (cannula) that goes back and forth very quickly to break up and suck out fat.

03.

Finishing Up

When all the unwanted fat has been removed, the surgical team will clean the areas and fit you in a compression garment. They are designed to minimize fluid retention post-op and assist with your healing process. You will have no stitches in the openings, which may drain lightly for several hours after the end of the procedure.

How long the entire surgery will last depends on the patient’s anatomy and the number of areas treated. You should expect it to be over within 1 to 2 hours in most cases.

Predicting recovery time isn’t an exact science. You should be able to return to work in a week or less and gradually return to your normal routine over the coming days and weeks.

Who Should Consider Thigh Liposuction?

While there’s no denying that this procedure comes with some appealing benefits, it might not be the best option for everyone. So, how do you determine if it’s right for you?

In general, the best candidates are those who:

=

Have Noticeable Fat Deposits

It’s normal for thighs to have more mass to them. However, if you have highly noticeable fat accumulation around your inner or outer thighs, you might make for a perfect lipo candidate.

=

Are Healthy

It can be a difficult surgery if you aren’t in good health. While some chronic conditions are okay for liposuction, serious conditions will be disqualifying.

=

Are Within Your Weight Goals

If you’re overweight, it’ll be hard to achieve the results you’re after. Contact us if you’re unsure about your weight goals.

=

Want Body Sculpting

Liposuction isn’t suitable for weight loss. It’s only suitable if you’re looking to tweak and improve your appearance rather than change it dramatically.

=

Have Realistic Expectations

While lipo includes fat removal, it’s not enough to make a significant difference in your weight. So, don’t go into it if you want to completely change your body.

While it’s women, in most cases, who opt for the operation, it is available to (and popular among) men as well.

Of course, only an experienced surgeon can make sure that you’re an ideal candidate for the surgery and help you achieve optimal results. Experts like Dr. Paul Gorman will assess you thoroughly and help you find an approach that’s best suitable for you and your goals.

The Road to Recovery Post-Op

Right after your surgery, you’ll first have to manage your swelling. Most commonly, you will wear specially designed garments for 2 weeks. You may wish to take over-the-counter pain medication (like Tylenol or ibuprofen) for one to two days after the procedure for discomfort.

In the first few days, you’ll want to get rest and stay hydrated. It is important to gradually increase activities each day, though, in order to recover more quickly.

After a few days, you’ll be able to start getting back into your normal routine. You can start going on short walks, getting back to work, and doing some light activities. It’s best that you wait at least two to three weeks before starting vigorous exercise again.

It could take a while for all of your swelling to go down. Still, in most cases, you should see the full results within about 3 months, give or take.

After your surgery, the fat that was removed will not be replaced. However, you should still commit to proper diet and exercise and try to maintain your weight. After all, if you have any weight gain post-op, the fat can accumulate in other areas and have a significant impact on your appearance.

Can You Combine Thighs Liposuction With Other Procedures?

Although this is a standalone operation, your surgeon could combine it with other treatments if needed or desired.

In most instances, the combined approach includes treatments in the abdomen, buttocks, and waist. Targeting these areas together is ideal for full-body contouring and can deliver fantastic results.

You can also use a combination of thigh lipo and knee and calf treatments to get proportional leg shaping.

Whether you want some work done on your calves, waist, or anything in between, you’ll always need to consult your doctor first! Cosmetic surgeon Dr. Paul Gorman will create a customized treatment plan that is best suited to your body.

FAQs about Inner and Outer Thigh Liposuction

How much fat do they remove during thigh liposuction?

K
L

Precisely how much fat removed during thigh liposuction depends entirely on your body and the results you’re trying to achieve. Amounts may vary between several hundred ccs to a liter or more.

Can I get a thigh gap with lipo?

K
L

In some cases, the operation can create a thigh gap. However, that depends entirely on your weight and overall body shape prior to the surgery. Your surgeon will be able to tell you whether the procedure can help you get this result.

Are there any differences between the inner and outer thigh procedures?

K
L

The only difference is in the treated area. Usually, the surgeon will work on both areas, but the treatment is always tailored to your needs and desires. If you would prefer to not have any work done on your outer thighs, for instance, simply communicate that to your doctor and agree on an option that works for you.

Is it painful?

K
L

During the procedure itself, the areas will be anesthetized with tumescent lidocaine solution, and you will be offered sedation. This allows for a safe, comfortable procedure without the risk and expense of general anesthesia. Afterward, you will receive appropriate pain medications as needed. In short, thigh liposuction should not be painful during or after the procedure.

You may experience swelling, bruising, or discomfort after the procedure, though. The swelling may take a few weeks to completely go away. During that time, you will want to wear a recovery garment and gradually increase your activity level.

Does the surgery offer permanent results?

K
L

Yes, you will enjoy permanent results. If you gain weight after your surgery, fat typically won’t accumulate in the treated areas. It might, however, accumulate in other areas, so you’ll want to be careful and stick to a healthy diet and exercise regularly to keep your weight in check after the surgery.
