Plasma Pen for Facial Aging

A Plasma Pen sounds like a sci-fi tool pulled straight out of “The Jetsons.” Even though Plasma Pen treatment is a futuristic advance in cosmetic surgery, you don't have to wait for the future to see the facial rejuvenation you desire. Plasma Pen treatments are a non-surgical technique used on eyelids, jawlines, smoker lines, and wrinkles to give the face a more youthful appearance. The cosmetic surgeons at GLOW Surgical Arts want to show you all of the intriguing ways that a Plasma Pen procedure could be everything you have been waiting for to transform your appearance for the better.

What is Plasma Pen?

Plasma Pen procedures use plasma to sublimate tissues with a small electrical arc, similar to a lightning bolt. This mini bolt of lightning is created with ionized gas. This electrical arc is then used to treat dermal and epidermal areas via heat. This heat will cause the contraction of skin cells, such as fibroblast cells. Those cells then tighten. This plasma manipulation causes a reduction of excess skin and wrinkles, also tightening and toning your skin.

How Plasma Pen differs from laser therapy

One could ask “Isn’t Plasma Pen just an ablative laser?” The answer is no. Both fractional (otherwise known as a non-ablative) lasers and plasma pens use controlled injuries to result in anti-aging, non-surgical procedures. However, Plasma Pen treatments do not cause layers of skin to burn off, unlike an ablative laser. This is important because it reduces your risk of negative side effects.

Are there advantages over surgical options?

There are many surgical options for giving a face a more youthful healthy appearance. A Plasma Pen treatment is one of many non-surgical options. The advantages of choosing Plasma Pen treatment are no injections, skin cutting, and skin thinning—in addition to the previously mentioned low risk of side effects.

Is Plasma Pen right for you?

Dr. Paul Gorman and Dr. Renee Marshall gladly will meet with you for a consultation to help guide you on your facial rejuvenation journey. We recommend Plasma Pen procedures for most people. Certain skin conditions may disqualify you from considering Plasma Pen. Plasma, and it is not recommended if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have high blood pressure. Otherwise, you should reasonably consider yourself a candidate for a Plasma Pen treatment.
